If you are going to be leaving for a weekend trip soon, you should remember to secure your home thoroughly before you leave. Many people are much more casual about home security when going on weekend jaunts than when they take major vacations. However, thieves and other household intruders also case houses for signs that the homeowners will be going away for the weekend. Be sure to be just as careful before pulling out of the driveway for a weekend fishing trip as you would be if you were going on a cruise around the world.Confused? Here ‘s a little help .

One thing to keep in mind is that today’s thieves are using more sophisticated casing techniques than in the past. For instance, many of them find their victims through social media. It’s never a good idea to post on your social media page that you will be going away for the weekend; save your photographs and adventure stories for when you return.

Going on vacation is certainly exciting; however, if you do not secure your home, you are leaving yourself at a major risk. It’s a simple measure, but always make sure your doors and windows are closed and lock. Sometimes, robbers will just walk around town checking doors to see which ones they can get into.

You should also have a security system in place. In the event that someone was to break in, the police would be immediately notified. Furthermore, you would know about it then as opposed to finding out when you come home from the trip. The full explanation can be found at http://www.modbee.com/2013/03/13/2620483/woman-arrested-a-year-after-robbery.html Always use those signs that the company gives to you; they can help to scare robbers away.

It’s really important to have lights around the perimeter of your house. It is much easier for a person to rob your house in the dark than if you have bright lights that go on whenever a person steps onto your property. It’s wise to have timers on the lights and even on the television so that it appears as though someone is home.

Ask a trusted family member or friend to come and check on the house. This person should also take in the mail because mail sitting outside is a major sign that you aren’t home.

Living in a big city like Boston doesn’t mean you’re less safe than in the country but it does mean you should have different Massachusetts home security concerns than your neighbors in Amish country. Here are a few tips for our Boston readers on staying safe in the city:

Check your building: Just because your building is renovated doesn’t mean its insides are. It’s a good idea to have a contractor look through older buildings about once a year to check for any wiring or structural issues.

Install extra locks: One of the simplest ways to keep your home from intruders is to install a deadbolt on your door. Many home invasions are caused when doors are kicked in so get a door and a lock that prevents that.

Know your neighbors: The best security is a vigilant neighborhood watch, organized or not. Know your neighbors and talk to them about anything suspicious you see in the area.

Vacation time is very rewarding and families look forward to their annual vacations. However, you want to make sure when you come back everything is as you left it. To make sure the vacation time is truly a worry free time, some security precautions can be taken before leaving home.

Stop your mail and paper delivery. You have heard this before and it may not seem too important. Anyone driving by a home and they see three or four days worth of papers in the driveway, knows immediately it is a vacant home.I found some more information <a href='http://www.The whole story can be found at http://personalliberty.com/2012/05/18/study-americans-forgo-vacation-days/clumsycrooks.com/news/prisoner_demands_vacation_time.htm’>here. Day’s worth of mail stuffed in your box indicates you are away, as well. Criminals know this and look for these signs. Cut the grass close so it does not get to overgrown while you are gone. Shabby unkempt yards indicate a vacant house.

Test the alarm system and make sure any cameras are still positioned correctly. You may have installed a system several years ago however, bushes and hedges may have grown up and are interfering with the camera’s coverage. Criminal see this and they realize you are not serious about security.

Contact the local police department, and notify them of departure and return date. Many times, they will perform extra patrols along your street. Some cities even have programs specifically for vacationers. Someone physically checks your property periodically while you are gone. Any burglars looking for an easy target will see all this activity and move on.

While on vacation, It’s important to know that your home and property are safe while away. If you currently don’t have a security system and are interested, there’s some things to consider. First, the cost of having a system is often far less than the cost of being burglarized.

Living in a tight nit community can be great. When on vacation, it’s easy for neighbors and family to check on your place. Still, that doesn’t necessarily guarantee security. By installing a security system, homeowners can check on their home and set alarms while away.Get more information here. http://microphone-film.net/digital-cameras-reduce-the-chance-of-criminal-offenses/ Even smartphones can now be used to remotely activate and view the security status of their system.

Before choosing a security company to do an installation it’s important to know what your needs are. Having expensive items to protect may warrant a more impressive system than those with less valuables inside. Simple alarms and sensors placed on windows and doors can be extremely effective.

Homeowners that what the best should consider having cameras, motion sensors and other alarms. Knowing your valuables are safe while on vacation will allow for more relaxation. Our homes are often the largest investment a person makes in their lifetime, so why not protect it the best you can? The information doesn’t stop now.

A lot of homeowners consider a home alarm system a crucial part of protecting their families. Unfortunately, when selecting the system, they often forget about one very important element. A high percentage of burglaries only happen because the windows were left unprotected and it is important that your system also includes the proper window protection.

Glass break detectors offer great protection and will sound an alarm if the window is disturbed or the sharp sound of glass breaking is detected. If it does not scare of the intruder immediately, it will give you time to get your family out.Check out this link here. Unlike motion detectors, you will not have to worry about setting them off accidentally and are especially important to those on the first floor of the home.

Window alarms are very important for home safety, as many intruders want to avoid highly lit areas at all costs. The first thing they will look for is a window to gain entry into your home. To determine the needs for your home, consider the location of the windows, how many windows you have, and what rooms the windows are in. The last thing you want is to have your child at risk from a home invader.

People know that about any community they in isn’t going to be safe. No where is safe in this day and age. However, there are things that they can do to make it safe. One of the things that makes them safe is what is called a neighborhood watch.

Some of you have never heard about this before. A neighborhood watch is very nice to have. The thing about this is that there are many who will find that these individuals who watch out in the neighborhood and reports activities is that when something is suspicious, they can have the police out there to take a look in no time at all. This is nice to have.

These housing communities know that it takes a neighborhood to make it safe. You watch out for one another. They pay close attention and report things that are not quite right. When you can call even if the issue might be small, but this could prevent from other crime happening. This is why these areas have low crime rates. They call before problems can even escalate.

It is rather easy to start one of these. You just have to find a few concerned people who are looking to make a difference. They just have to report when they see things that might be somewhat troublesome. The other thing is that you can also find that they might walk around to show that people are watching.

Living in a small community has many benefits. The houses are often close together so everyone can keep an eye on each other. When someone goes on vacation, they can tell their neighbors and have them watch their home and collect their mail while they are gone. The closer people live to each other, the easier it is for residents to keep an eye on houses. If everyone in the community monitors the activity during the day and in the evening, they can stop some of the potential crimes that may occur. If someone sees something that is out of the ordinary, such as a strange car, they can alert the right authorities or talk to some of the neighbors and find out if anyone else has seen anything.
Small neighborhoods often have lots of children. If there are small streets in the community, then children often like to ride their bikes and play in the streets without thinking about cars that may drive by. Parents can help to watch for other children while they are outside if they let others know their children are playing. This will decrease accidents that children may have while they are playing because there are more people watching them.
